In the American School System and the bedrooms of our youth the proverbial bomb has been ticking for some time. School incidents such as Columbine are on the rise and criminologist expect juvenile crime to rise by 114% over the next decade.
Devastatingly, the portion of America's youth arrested for violent crimes rose from only 0.3% in 1992 to 0.7% in 1999. It costs society $39,000 per year to keep a youth in a correction center and the average child witnesses 8,000 murders 100,000 acts of violence by the time he or she finishes elementary school.
Can corporate America afford to ignore this problem? Ultimately, the effects filter into our personal lives, families and communities, as well as increased taxes for correctional facilities and growing crime enforcement.
Positive Vibrations was started 6 years ago by Robin Petgrave, then owner and Chief Pilot of Bravo Helicopter & Wing, and currently owner and Chief Pilot at Celebrity Helicopter. He was looking for a way to help youth recognize their potential and realize their dreams. His rags to riches story and entrepreneurial skills have prepared him to be a positive motivator to young people on a local and national level.
Since its inception, Positive Vibrations has made an incredible impact on thousands of school age children in south and central Los Angeles County. MentorMall.cc has on file hundreds of letters from parents, students, teachers, and administrators alike, thanking Robin for having such a powerful program and leaving such a positive impression.
What makes Positive Vibrations stand out from the rest of the youth mentoring pack is its method for getting the kids attention and Petgrave's ability to keep it? And unlike some motivational programs, Positive Vibrations expands beyond the inspirational messages and hype to a level that creates exposure, opportunity, and support for young people to develop their own dreams. Motivated by his own difficult upbringing in Jamaica, Robin saw the initiation of Positive Vibrations as a unique way to inspire, motivate, and nurture positive and productive attitudes from kids who are limited only by their lack of exposure and opportunity.
